[opensuse-kde] now touchpad (appletouch)
hi, meanwhile I updated KDE 4.7.1 at my MacBook Pro and a very ugly regression happens! Within the systemsetting in hardware -> input devices -> touchpad the former (in 4.7.0) setting "disable touchpad while typing" with the option to specify the re-enabling time in seconds are disappeared! btw: the most important touchpad settings were also deleted (2-finger click,3-finger click) - but I could reestablish at least these settings. Additionaly the hardware page within the touchpad settings shows me also different results as the old one from 4.7.0 (which are wrong but do not have a negative effect) => looks like the complete touchpad module was changed in 4.7.1 ? However I desparately need the above mentioned setting - without it writing on this laptop is pure hell. question: How can I revert to 4.7.0? Or does anybody have another ideas/solution? harald -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
The content of the touchpad configuration is provided by synaptiks which was updated to version 0.7.0-14.1 synaptiks provides 2 pages: touchpad administration touchpad configuration The first page contains the setting which I am missing. A workaround is to start synaptiks manually. than the pages are accessable from the control panel. The problem however is that the Integration of synaptiks within systemsettings is partially broken. I'll finish soon my monologue about synaptiks - I promise :) anyway, since synaptiks 0.7.0 under KDE 4.7.1 is not able any longer to integrate its first configuration page (touchpad administration) into systemsettings I load synaptiks manually into the control panel. Unfortunately this is not only cumbersome, it is also a new source of errors - e.g. synaptiks will crash after waking up from suspend to RAM. I hope that this new bug will be fixed soon - is bugs.kde.org the proper location where I should report the error - or is it eventually openSUSE-related harald Am 22.09.2011 09:43, schrieb Harald Nikolisin:

Are you sure you've updated to the latest version of synaptiks that belongs with KDE 4.7.1? Crashes sound like library incompatibilities. Regards, Tejas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

yes, I tested version 0.7.0-16.1 and 0.7.0-14.1 - currently both versions are available in KDF. it crashes only after resuming from suspend to RAM. anyway the main problem is that the first page of synaptiks is not longer present in system-settings. regards, harald -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

File bugs with the full crash reports, then. There's no harm done in opening extra bugreports, so if you're not sure where the problem is, just file whereever you think is most likely and if necessary you can upstream/downstream it later. One should never feel like you have to ask permission to file a bug report, or feel it has to be perfect before you can submit it ... if you're feeling like that, the project isn't doing a very good job welcoming potential new contributors ...
