Thanks Daniel, For the suggestion, but I didn't find a krusader directory in the location you mentioned. I have a konqueror folder there, but no krusader. I did try moving the files from /opt/kde3/share/apps/krusader over to the location you suggested, but that didn't seem to help at all. It may be that I need to compile the 1.12 beta also to get it to work. Of course, if you made a rpm using checkinstall with your compile that would make things easier too. ;o)
Of course you have to compile the 1.12 beta (http://krusader.sourceforge.net/dev/krusader-1.12-beta1.tar.gz) because only that version copies the files into the mentioned directory "/usr/local/kde/share/apps/krusader" after the "make install"....don't ask me why... The files should be: -a dir called icons and its contents -about.png -konfig_small.jpg -krusaderui.rc And btw: If you remove your rpm-installation of krusader, you shouldn't have a directory /opt/kde3/share/apps/krusader.... But if I find a little time I will probably make a rpm....:-) Daniel.

--===================== Ok, Thanks again Daniel The compile worked nicely and 1.12 krusader is installed and works! I didn't have to do anything after installing it either, it just worked. Oh, one thing I did do is issued the commands export KDEDIR=/opt/kde3 and export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt3 before starting the compile. That way the files know where to go when installing. As a result, there is no /usr/local/kde/share/apps/krusader directory and the program works without having to move any files. Nice to have it back, now if we can get the root Konq file manager bug fixed, KDE 3.1 is complete! Ok, fine, I did not do the export-commands. This explains, why I had to move the files...nevertheless my krusader works, too.

Sorry, I've no explanation for that because I don't have the problem. Perhabs there is something like a version conflict. I noticed my konqueror itself saying, he is version 3.1.0, while yast says my kdebase3-konqueror is still 3.0.3-77......creepy. What is the exact error message, if you start it as a normal user from the shell? Daniel

--====================== It doesn't report anything while starting it from the shell as user, but I got this when starting it as root. linux:~ # konqueror mcop warning: user defined signal handler found for SIG_PIPE, overriding But then again, it starts ok logged in as root, no matter where you start it from, so it is a bit baffling what is the problem using kdesu to open up a root window. Hmm, can't believe you didn't experience it too as I am pretty sure others here had the same problem. Ok, Daniel, I am answering my own email, but I did solve the problem with Konqueror as well. It was a matter of removing the old /tmp/mcop-(user) folder and letting Konq create a new one. Simple as that it seems and now all is working again. So the summary is: Krusader-download and compile the new version 1.12 beta1 Konqueror-remove /tmp/mcop-(user) folder Hope that will help others in sorting out these two problems. Before 3.1 I could simply drag a message to another folder. Now it doesnt work. Is this a 'new' feature' or a bug? Or is there a setting somewhere to enable it? Richard
Whoops, How did I manage to attach to this thread??? I thought I started a new one, Sorry folks. ra On Thursday 30 January 2003 1:43 pm, Richard wrote:

Color me stupid. Now it works! Did a ms reboot for the third or fourth time since the install/upgrade and all of a sudden it works. Guess it had to get comfortable on my computer. ra On Thursday 30 January 2003 1:49 pm, Richard wrote:

I've installed almost all of the new kde rpms (all except of the kdeart-scan-.. one because I couldn't find the dev things it needed). However, when I restart it still says kde 3.0. I didn't do the export thing you did. What should I try next to get this to work? (I'm in the suse channel if you want to pop in on rydsbo). I need to get some lunch soon though i'm starving. -- Rick mailto:maillist@reumann.net
(sorry didn't mean to send this to the kde list... you guys can care less whether I'm hungry or not...then again Patrick I'm sure doesn't care either :) On Thursday, January 30, 2003, 12:25:37 PM, Rick wrote: RR> On Thursday, January 30, 2003, 10:15:22 AM, PL wrote: POS>> POS>> Oh, one thing I did do is issued the commands export KDEDIR=/opt/kde3 POS>> and export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt3 before starting the compile. I did the compile of krusader 1.12beta as described and noticed the preview pane would not open on my system. I've reverted to 1.11 and all is well. Just in case anyone else has this problem. see ya -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!
