[opensuse-kde] kde applications menu bar broken on 4.9.98
Hi, with the update to kde 4.9.98 (4.10rc3 if I am not mistaken?) I lost the menubar of all my kde applications, ctrl+m doesn't bring it back, nor using rightclick -> activate menubar in okular. Sounds to me a bit like https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=312900 turned out a bit wrong, but I couldn't find any more evidence on the web that I am not alone with this problem. How does 4.9.98 work out for the rest of you guys? I am using it on opensuse 12.2, from kdf I checked .xsession-errors for obvious problems, nothing unusual :-| Cheers, Karsten -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Based on a live image, I could see that indeed the menu appears to be gone. At this moment I am not sure what creates it, but it seems something didn't got initialized. To active the menu, please perform the following action System Settings -> Application Appereance -> Style. Choose here the second tab (Fine Tuning). The last option (Menubar Style) controls the placement of the menu. If you select there "in Application", then your old menu should be back. As soon as RC3 is official released, I will put a bugreport. Hi Karsten, Good news. The below mentioned issue has been fixed and will be available with the next update of KDF (12.2 has already been published). Regards Raymond On Friday 18 January 2013 21:57:38 Karsten König wrote:

Just updating to the latest KDF packages does not help. At least if one updated to 4.10 before the fix went in. One still has to set the placement of the menu to something else than "in Application", apply and after that re-set it to "in Application" again to make it work. Could somebody please test whether the issue is really gone for those that install KDE 4.10 RC3 the first time, i.e. coming from e.g. KDE SC 4.9. Update from 4.10 RC2 to RC3 now works fine. So update from 4.9 should not be a problem. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I don't want nor need another widget! :-( I've got enough cluttering up my Taskbar :-( . I was happy with this piece of info being where it was before this latest update to KDE. Make them put it back to where it was! In any case, I've looked thru all the widgets and cannot find it. It is where is was. If you don't want the "widget", what are you crying about.
In any case, I've looked thru all the widgets and cannot find it. What's it called now? :-)
I guess that means you really do want it. I believe it is called "Application Launcher", but you will have to decide which one as I am no longer interested. Remember, it is *another* widget. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Are we both discussing a lost kicker menu item? If not, excuse my blatent sarcasm and misunderstanding. That's nice - not! :-( Why was such a useful item dropped?
