[opensuse-kde] Tumbleweed and updating to KDE SC 4.13

I'm not sure if Greg KH reads you here, but he said he wanted to let the dust from then GNOME update settle first before he pulls in KDE:Current again. Dear Achim. You may be right. No idea which lists he is on :) Could of course also send it to factory but lets wait and see. As I do not follow gnome and its problems I have no idea how far they are finished. I'm on ALL THE LISTS!!! :)

GNOME seems to be working well. I previously have relied on Jiri to do the KDE update for Tumbleweed. If he doesn't send it to me in the next week or so, I'll look into doing it myself. Give me a few weeks though, I'm currently traveling, and don't want to do an update like this when I can't respond quickly to fix any reported issues. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Is that update to 4.13 still on the map? If not, it would be nice if openSUSE-2014-356 could be pulled into Tumbleweed so it doesn't compete with the older packages there. OBS just got "unbroken" a few days ago, so nothing has been done on this due to those issues.

What do you mean by this? What is "openSUSE-2014-356"? And remember, I don't run KDE, so I have no incentive to get it into Tumbleweed, having someone help me out with this (like has happened in the past), would be great. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

It's a patch in the 13.1 update repo that replaces 10 packages with newer versions. I've confirmed that these work just fine with Tumbleweed. As you should be using the update repo along with tumbleweed, didn't you already get those updates? Or is something in tumbleweed "newer" preventing that from happening? Specifics as to what package and versions are involved here would be great. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Depending on how I do the update (i.e. whether Tumbleweed has priority), this happens: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- The following 10 packages are going to be downgraded: kde4-kgreeter-plugins 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace-branding-openSUSE 13.1-6.9.11 -> 13.1-2.24 kdebase4-workspace-ksysguardd 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace-liboxygenstyle 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdm 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdm-branding-openSUSE 13.1-10.4.13 -> 13.1-4.1 kwin 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 python-kdebase4 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- If I then don't confirm the dup, do zypper> in -t patch openSUSE-2014-356 and run dup again I get this resolved. Always keep the priorities the "same".
--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- The following 10 packages are going to be downgraded: kde4-kgreeter-plugins 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace-branding-openSUSE 13.1-6.9.11 -> 13.1-2.24 kdebase4-workspace-ksysguardd 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace-liboxygenstyle 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdm 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 kdm-branding-openSUSE 13.1-10.4.13 -> 13.1-4.1 kwin 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 python-kdebase4 4.11.9-111.1 -> 4.11.8-3.19 --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---
If I then don't confirm the dup, do
zypper> in -t patch openSUSE-2014-356
and run dup again I get this resolved.
Don't mess with patches, just let zypper handle everything for you "automatically" without needing to do different repo priorities and that mess. If you don't do that, you are on your own, sorry. best of luck, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
