Hi! This imap daemon uses only unix user authentication. You cannot set up "imap-only" users. If it's a unix user, he has an imap login automatically. The problem has to be somewhere else, perhaps a wrong auth mech used by the outlook client. Check the messages in /var/log/messages or /var/log/mail. If there is no helpful message in the logs, then try to track it down with ethereal or another packet sniffer of your choice, to see what the client is doing and what the server is answering.
