Thanks for the suggestion. YaST2 runs in a console but not as a graphical program on KDE (I do get a PID for it when it starts but nothing appears on the screen!). So it's not a broken link (have created a new one anyway which didn't work either).
Sounds like its not getting permission to open a window? try this Open the menu editor (right click on the k-menu, select "menu editor") 1) Click on system 2) Press the New Item button on the toolbar 3) Type into the string requester. Yast-SU press ok 4) In the main window (where it says command) enter kdesu /sbin/yast2 (you can just copy/paste the line above) then press enter just to make sure it takes 5) Give it a pretty icon if you like 6) Press Apply Give the system a few seconds to notice the changes. Now try it out (I had to try it a couple of times before it worked, System lag?) Hopefully you will get the familiar password entry box and once logged in your Beautiful yast! If not then something must be missing on your system (kdesu?) -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!
