Sessions in session menu of kdm in kde 3.4, suse9.3
Hallo, in kde 3.3 and before there was an option (SessionTypes) for /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc in which you could specify the contents of the session menu of kdm from which the user can choose the sessiontype (kde, fvwm,...) he wants to start. Since suse9.3 and kde 3.4 this seems to have changed. The kdmrc-variable SessionTypes is now invalid and the session menu contains always the same session types. The problem is I would like to add another menuentry for another session that is later on started in the Xsession script. Does anyone know how and where to configure another session than the default ones for kdm? Have a look into the directory /opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/sessions/ There are plenty of sessions prepared. If there is a .desktop file for your session, make sure that the "Exec" and TryExec" lines contain the path to your session start script. If there is no such .desktop file, create one with the appropriate contents. Mario

Thanks for the answer. I already found the directory but was wondering why all those session did not show up in the kdm session menu. Well the path was the answer ... Hi i had the same problem. Just add in /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc [X-*-Core] -> SessionsDirs= /bla bla/, /bla bla/, /opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/sessions ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ add this path and it works ciao -- Gruss/Regards Gunnar Salbeck GnuPG-Key: 0xADECC257EFEC0F37 http://pgp.mit.edu/ Fingerprint: 3C9A B868 D3C4 1A1B A8A2 CCC6 ADEC C257 EFEC 0F37 Skype : callto://gunnarsalbeck ICQ : 162837078
