[opensuse-kde] kded disappears....
Hello, I have KDE 3.5.5 rel.50.1 on opensuse 10.2 installed. As the session is going on for a while the kded can not be found in the process list. That´s why I get problems with e.g. printing because the printingserver kprintd is not started. How can I manually restart the kded? Is this a known issue? greetings Michael Eichstädt --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Mike, Wouldn't just logging out and logging back in restart it for you? If that didn't work, then just shut down kdm altogether. Not sure what is causing your problem as I'm running 10.1 also with the updated KDE files and not seeing this. ctrl-alt-F1 login as root init 3 init 5 Hopefully helpful, Lee --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Actualy typing rckdm restart will do the trick better. so ctrl-alt-F1 login as root type "rckdm restart"

Hello, thank You. It helps but doesn´t solve the problem itself. gretings Michael Am Montag, 8. Januar 2007 17:15 schrieb Pavel Nemec:

--------------------------------------------------------------------- No, I didn't actually expect it to solve the problem, but it would provide a simple method to get KDE restarted when the problem does occur. Your problem seems to be another bug in 10.2 or the new files you've downloaded. Maybe you should submit the bug to bugzilla to see if any of the suse guys are aware of it. Otherwise, you could just reinstall your old KDE files to see if that clears it up. If it does, then it's possible the newly downloaded KDE files are to blame.

To restart kded you do not need to restart KDE. Just use ALT+F2 and type kdeinit kded. Sven --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
