problem with lan browser in kde3.2.2 and suse 9.1
Folks, I just installed Suse 9.1 and with kde3.2.1 and kde 3.2.2 the lan browser does not work at all. smb:/ in Konqueror says something like internal error (Interner Fehler Bitte senden Sie einen ausführlichen Problembericht an http://bugs.kde.org Unbekannte Fehlerbedingung in stat: Das Netzwerk ist nicht erreichbar) and lan:/ says something like "internal error". (Protokoll wird nicht unterstützt lan). The lisa setup in the KDE control center is missing. Setting up Samba client in Yast does not help. Obviously I did somethig wrong during the installation or I forgot something. Any idea how to fix that is appreciated ! many thanks Chris

Got the same problem here on SuSE 9.1 Prof. & Samba 3.0.2. If I try to connect with a Windows Server (yes, our University used it the most) I get The process of the protocol smb://IP has been terminated unexpected (Der Prozess für das Protokoll smb://IP wurde unerwartet beendet.) At home on my Linux server it happens only sometimes, but I hasn't be able to reconstruct the circumstances under which this occurs. Greets from sunny Greifswald Christian

i noticed this problem to disappear after you put your windows domain/workgroup name in /etc/smb/smb.conf. bye, [MH]
Hi Folks, got some problems here, when I try to access Win2000/XP/2003 network shares. It seems to kill the process of the protocol (see screenshot). Has anyone an idea, how this could be solved ? Christian
