Konq. will "get there," but Yast errors out.

try another SuSE mirror site... (ftp://ftp.leo.org/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8.2/yast-source) Julo.
Hi, I haven't had any luck either with ftp as an alternative installation source. SuSE 8.2 and with every attempt at installing an FTP site in YaST2 the following error: "Unable to create installation source from URL 'ftp://ftp.leo.org/pub/suse/i386 etc etc etc. DETAILS: ERROR(InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media)" I have tried it with the suggestions for alternative sites given by Julius Chrobak (thanks Julo!) but the above error always occurs. Is there anyone else (apart from Fred and I ) with this problem? Or any suggestions on what could be causing the hangup? By all accounts it should be a straightforward setting, but it somehow seems to be failing on some systems. YaST version? Regards Rich On Tuesday 27 May 2003 08:10, Julius Chrobak wrote:

Julo.
I would suggest you find the IP number of the FTP server.. I was able to install via FTP using the IP number instead of the server name.. Hi, I have to say, I had no problems with FTP installation, whole my system is installed from ftp.suse.sk.... KDE 3.1.2 was succesfully updated..BUT !!! now I have problems with my YAST package manager.... I don't know what is the problem, or what is the reason of the problem. My problem with this YAST component is : I just open Package Manager, and than I want to close the window (Cancel button or pressing on 'x' ...(right, upper corner..:)) ) and I've got message: Abandon all changes ? (I don't know exactly english question, because I use Slovak Translation)... and if I press OK, or Cancel..nothing happens...this messages is always there, and I have to kill YAST...:(( So, maybe additional FTP source is the reason, but when I delete this source, problem is still there.....:(( YAST package manager version: 2.7.37-2... so, that's all what I know about FTP installation source in YAST... Julo

This is the problem I had, I solved it by moving the address of the KDE-server above the server from where I originally installed SuSE in the source list of yast. I have upgraded several kde--parts without any problems. I had problems with upgrading koffice earlier since apt-get install & ordinary rpm -Uvh stated a conflict with susewm. No such problems with yast! /Tomas
