[opensuse-kde] Plasma 5.3 update for openSUSE 13.2
Just a clarification: is a plasma 5.3 update through the normal update channels planned for openSUSE 13.2? This isn't a request, I fully understand if it isn't planned. I am just trying to find out whether I should be waiting for it or should go ahead and enable the KDE:Frameworks5 repo. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Nothing on the mailing list in the past three month has indicated a planned up(date|grade) of that calibre for 13.2. Looking at the "theething" troubles over in Tumbleweed aka Factory, I'd say that KF5 is not ready yet for a full replace of KDE4. Chief in front is a missing kwallet5-manager for KF5. Other things, like inconsistence in moving preferences (see Places), make it difficult for the uninformed "just using it" Users. For the informed and interested users, there is the KDE:Frameworks5 repo. Not for all, just yet. In motion the future is. Thanks for interest in testing. - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I do not mean a change in the default, just an update to the existing packages. openSUSE 13.2 was shipped with plasma5-workspaces 5.1.0. Through the normal update repo, it has received 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.2.1, and 5.2.2. So I was wondering if it might receive 5.3.0 or 5.3.1 as well. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

This has been brought upstream at my request, and discussion is ongoing.

This was actually a bug because information ended up being duplicated, one in a KDE specific location, and another in the XDG location. The upstream decision was to use only XDG (which works cross-desktop). -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

This isn't a request, I fully understand if it isn't planned. I am just trying to find out whether I should be waiting for it or should go ahead and enable the KDE:Frameworks5 repo. I wouldn't bother just yet unless you want to have a mix of KDE4 and Plasma 5.3 apps e.g. kwallet and kwallet5, "Configure Desktop" (now called Configure KDE4 Apps) or "System Settings" (now called Configure Desktop) Just make sure you remember if you are using KDM or SDDM (not so fully featured)
But the Breeze theme is nice -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

It's inevitable, it was also discussed in the initial mails. Software made by KDE is no longer monolithic, so such things are expected. The migration is not forced, so projects are moving at their own pace. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

For sure not before 5.3.2, and then, maybe. Ideally it would go with Qt 5.4.2 bugfix update. We'll see. (Off course, not as default, as someone suggested in the thread, the obsoletes/provides are only applied for > 13.2 anyway) Cheers, Hrvoje
