I use KDE4.6.0 on openSUSE 11.4. I have ffmpegthumbnailer
installed, but
Dolphin still does not create thumbnails from video files.
How can I set ffmpegthumbnail to be my preferred thumbnail
program?

I've been using kffmpegthumbnailer on 11.3. It has very few dependencies and works well in Dolphin after ticking it in the configuration dialog. However, I've just upgraded another machine to 11.4 and can't find this in any of the repos. It was provided by Packman previously. I note it's missing from Packman on 11.3 now as well so perhaps it's not been updated and is incompatible, but if not could somebody look at packaging it again? Packman is going through a cleaning process. I have just submitted kffmpegthumbnailer to Packman/Multimedia. Cheers, -- Javier Llorente
