Any suggestions?
Yes. See the replies given by Richard Atcheson and me a week and a half ago in the topic thread with the Subject: heading "kweather" initiated by Chuck Holland.
Yeah, I saw that Randall, but I was hoping for a fix from Suse / KDE instead of you having to fix it for them.
You should realize that these lists are not official feedback channels. There are SuSE personnel who read them as their time and interests dictate, but nothing written here has the status of an official bug report or change or improvement request.
I do realize these lists are not official, and all the personal effort this group puts into this list. This is what linux, and in particular, this list is all about. This group carries that torch very well. I for one appreciate it. My comment about a fix from higher parties was based in the hope that there would be a fix to what seems to me to be a bug.
I'm not up on scripts at all. Don't know where to start. Do you run this script only once, or do you have to use it to start kweather?
I use it in place of directly executing kweather. I have a few pre-programmed desktop icons that launch kweather for the reporting stations I care about. I mention it there instead of kweather itself.
Richard mentioned a config file. That may be a better way of fixing the problem and it's apparently the one chosen by the OP in that thread.
I'll try the config file method. I'm always amazed at how you guys find fixes to this stuff, and how quickly you do it. Thanks for the heads up. -- Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii.co
