Setting Environment Variables for QT Libraries - Problems installing KDE 304

Hi, I am installing KDE 304 and I am following all indications from Trolltech's documentation regarding the environment variables. Unfortunately even after the setup mentioned in the install guide QTDIR still points to the older "qt2". I looked everywhere to find out where is setup this variable but I did not find.
