But then again, it starts ok logged in as root, no matter where you start it from, so it is a bit baffling what is the problem using kdesu to open up a root window. Hmm, can't believe you didn't experience it too as I am pretty sure others here had the same problem.

Ok, Daniel, I am answering my own email, but I did solve the problem with Konqueror as well. It was a matter of removing the old /tmp/mcop-(user) folder and letting Konq create a new one. Simple as that it seems and now all is working again. So the summary is: Krusader-download and compile the new version 1.12 beta1 Konqueror-remove /tmp/mcop-(user) folder Hope that will help others in sorting out these two problems.
