-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 . Some of us got strange behaviour in K after we set file security to Secure. For example I lost the dragon shutdown dialog, could no longer right-click|edit in Konq, and KMail would no longer fortune. I noticed Michael Kollender's recent message to this list (below), and applied his changes even though I am running K3 on Suse8. Got the dragon back. I know, pitiful... big whup. But maybe this also fixed other more subtle problems. Still can't right-click|edit in Konqsu. It was suggested to xhost +localhost , but it's a security problem. It was also suggested: # xauth merge /home/username/.Xauthority # export DISPLAY=:0.0 on boot, but this doesn't work. And I cannot grasp the intricacies of what this does, much less what the problem is, so cannot troubleshoot. KMail doesn't fortune, and starting it from konsole yields NO messages. It doesn't seem to have a logfile. ? Can anyone advise? (What happened to the K traffic? Is everyone on -en?) ======================================== Michael Kollender schreib: Applies to SuSE 7.3 To fix it: a.. mkdir /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm ln -s /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc ln -s /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/Xaccess b.. edit the files in /etc/SuSEconfig and change: qt2 ? qt3 and kde2 ? kde3 c.. edit /etc/init.d/xdm, change: kde2 ? kde3 d..
