If you want that sort of Linux system i.e. Click and run, you'll need to go and purchase Linspire(Lindows).
Linux out of the box plays a lot more things than most other OS's.

Your incorrect to presume linux is a loser. They just obey the law regarding non GNU lisence programs.
You completely missed the point. Yes "they"'re obeying the law, but that's not the point.
The makers of these products have made some available for us but the user must modify their own system.
*That*'s the problem. By far most computer users are not capable of compiling anything, nor should they have to. If you want to persuade unsavvy (i.e. average) users to switch to Linux, you'll have to give them a system that's better. "Good" is defined as inserting the CD which came with the dvdrom drive and clicking the mouse about 5 times. Alternatively, starting yast will do, but it's not working.
Linux out of the box doesn't play a hell of a lot of things which makes it a loser in this area. I'm not interested in why, nor is my gf, my mother, or anyone else I'm trying to persuade to switch to Linux.

One point I believe that Volker misses in all this is that you won't find many gf's, mother's or anyone else normal computer user installing Linux on their machine without someone's help. Any company that sells computers with Linux preinstalled will have most if not all the programs ready for use when the purchaser gets the machine. Now how many Windows computers do you find with the plethora of software Linux offers already installed? And how many Windows or even normal Linux users do you know that goes messing around with their systems, once it's setup for their everyday usage? They don't! Again, I point out, since it's not installed someone gets someone else to install it, whether it's Linux or Windows, so that makes both OS's losers, right? Well, we know Windows is, but the jury is still out on Linux. ;o) Without a doubt, Linux is better as we all know and the choices and selections it gives us is enormous compared to any other OS out there. Getting people to accept it is not a matter of a single program or two, it's re-educating the users to the it's advantages. That's where the present users come in with their help.
