According to this http://www.progdan.cz/2012/05/libkgoogle-libkgapi/ there is only a version 0.4.0 "which does not contain any other improvements or fixes" other than changing the library name and license (compared to 0.3.1)
Akonadi Google 0.3.1 is already packaged in KDF and working so far (not only on my PCs) https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=akonadi- google&project=KDE%3ADistro%3AFactory
There is at least one fix, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301240 I'm not only user reporting this bug. ;-)
Vojtěch, what version and bugfixes are you referring to?
https://projects.kde.org/projects/kdereview/libkgoogle - version 0.4.1 https://projects.kde.org/news/150
thank you, I wasn't aware of this
Since the library has been integrated into KDE 4.9, packaging newer versions separately will become more difficult and in this case you'd rather install the whole new KDE stack (once it is stable) as you do with okular etc... It will be part of KDE 4.9, but what about KDE 4.7 and 4.8? Version 0.3.1 does not work, not only for me. There will probably be other updates, which will be then missing in KDE in openSUSE. Sorry my lack of knowledge, is there any problem with packaging of those newer versions for openSUSE 11.4-12.2 with KDE 4.7 and 4.8?
comment 3 and 4 briefly show the problems: you'd have to extract the parts being integrated into KDEPIM again which may not be that easy... https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301240#c3 Dan currently provides a repo doing this but using the extract from kdepim- runtime not bound to a specific version though. I'd consider that experimental code. Thus I'd say it's like with the other KDE apps which receive bug fixes only in newer KDE releases... If the changelog is complete and 0.4.1 seems to fix only the mentioned three bugs which keep people from using it, it may be worth back-porting those patches for once at least. I'll have a look at the bugs and see what I can do. (I'm not quite sure about licensing though since it changed from GPL3 to GPL2 - is there a problem using the patch then?) But at some point you need to stop backporting though and migrate to the new version as this may be a non-trivial task with limited use for most people. Maybe you'll find someone willing to continue that task though.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
