The problem for me is when I reinstall or install a new version of SuSE, kmail don't recover the subdirectories content, only the content of the first level directory. Thadeu On Tuesday 30 December 2003 03:59, Janus Sandsgaard wrote:

How can I backup the mails received by kmail? I know that is storage in the directory Mail, but if I create subdirectories in any directory its content is lost or I don't know how to recover. What is the correct procedure to do the backup?
Simply make a backup of the entire Mail-directory (and keep it somewhere safe). A way to do this is making a tar file that wiill save the structure and all the subdirectorys:
tar cvf thadeu-mail-backup_301203.tar Mail/
If you want to compress the tar-file, add "z" as a parameter, og do a
gzip thadeu-mail-backup_301203.tar
after.
