In prior version of KDE, Nepomuk's indexing feature was disabled by default, so I never used it. This was the case if you used openSUSE branding. By default, indexing was enabled otherwise.
They're already talking about allowing it to be uninstalled by having the Baloo package be split. I want this, because I want to uninstall it. And if my supposition is correct, I don't think I'll ever be installing it again -- not that I don't think it can become better. I just don't need it.
Only way to resolve issues is to report them first. There are many use-cases, and setups, so they all can't be spotted before the final .0 release. Also, yelling about untested crap is very much out of line. There was a dot story about new search engine, Luca announced the entrance of Baloo in KUSC, Raymond pulled in every beta and rc in KDF, so there where *a lot* off opportunities to test and read how Baloo, and rest of 4.13 behave. Additionally, we also made it possible to remove the indexers, so really ranting helps nothing and no-one. Cheers, Hrvoje
