I have a problem that is happening on just one of my systems running openSuSE12.3 x64, KDE Platform Version 4.10.5 "release 1" that I could use some help getting it fixed. I set up my desktops with various background pictures, widgets, etc which all works fine until I reboot the system. Then all is lost and my desktops revert back to the default Usually that means that Plasma crashes on logout/shutdown and hence the changes aren't saved. It might make sense to not make too many changes at once, but rather make a few changes, restart Plasma, and see if the settings don't stick. Thanks Martin for your response. Yes that is kinda what I am doing while I am trying to find a solution. I just make a few changes, like set the background and/or add just one widget, reboot, and see if the new configuration stuck. It doesn't. Alternatively, I wonder if you might be making changes to one activity, but a different activity is loaded on startup. I kinda wonder if there isn't something going on with activities as well. When I right click on the background and bring up the Activities setup, I use to see the various activities I had set up, when I was using openSuSE 12.2 (before I upgraded to 12.3) Now all I see is the ability to create a new activity, and not any of the old activities that I had previously set up. If the configuration for the activities setups are stored somewhere in my home directory then I wonder if there is some sort of incompatibility between an earlier version of these configuration files and the current one? My home directory is in a separate partition and I simply mount it so as to keep all the stuff I have stored there... Which is a LOT considering for example that I have a number of large Eclipse workspaces... :-D
