I must have a different problem, as I still cannot open gwenview.
Is this a packaging problem? Should I re-open the bug? Or is there something I can do to solve it?
Are you using up to date KDE:Release:48 packages? If not, this could be the fixed kdelibs soprano bug.

Ok, an interesting thing happened. All this was right in the middle of when I was reconfiguring drives and other stuff on my pc. So I wanted to check something and have a completely fresh KDE. I moved and renamed the .kde4 directory (so that if I wanted to go back I could just rename it back) and then restarted kde. Of course it restarted with all the default settings (as I expected), re-creating the .kde4 directory, the files inside and the symbolic links. As I was setting it up, I decided to try opening up gwenview, and bang, it started up without any problem. The other thing that happened when I reset kde like this was that I had been having a problem with some of my sound files. Amarok would not play, and any sound clip that I wanted to play on login and logout would cut off the last 1/2 second of the sound. However, after resetting kde in this way, both Amarok plays now, and my sound clips on login and logout play the full length. -- G.O.
