Konqueror and tabs

HI All, I'm using Suse 9.3 and KDE 3.5.2. Although I have set Konq to open all new links in tabs, it will alway open it in the same window (unless i right click the mouse and select it that way). I am sure this was not the way it worked in previous versions. Anyone else experiencing this? regards Ian
