Hi friends,
there's a fix for noatun problems available from the sdb at
KDE3.0: The Media Player noatun Does Not Play MP3 Files http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/thallma_noatun_kde3.html
I can't play mp3 files either, but I'm running KDE3 on 7.2, and when I try to install the rpm pointed to in the sdb article above I get:
error: failed dependencies: libasound.so.2 is needed by kdemultimedia3-3.0-9
The package is apparently targeted at SuSE 8.0. (?)
What can I do to get noatun running on my 7.2? Currently, it crasches with a segment violation.

Lennart, My first guess to your problem may be that you don't have the latest 2.4.18 kernel with the new alsa module and the new alsa 0.9 installed. At least that is what it sounds like, because this lib is part of the new alsa package. Something I didn't think about until hitting send button would be to maybe make a symlink to your old libasound.so.1 library to get it working. Don't know if it needs anything else specific, but it is easy enough to try the link.
