Since upgrading my SUSE 9.0 Pro to KDE-3.2.2 (from the SUSE ftp server), I'm having a lot of trouble with some network related apps.
On my home machine Konq's lan browsing is shakey at best. Also, trying ftp: or http: in konq causes it to crash. Clicking on the Konqueror browser icon brings up a KDE crash handler directly. Strangely, fish: works fine, but slow.
On my workstation at work things are much worse. I have the above mentioned problems, but in adition to that KMail is so unstable it's completely unusable. Clicking on "send" would crash it immediately. Through Kontact things are a little better, but there crucial things are missing, like the KMail entry under settings.
Hm, not sure, but to me this sounds a lot like troubles with the NIC or LAN connection. You have different apps who all make problems. The only apparently common thing is, they all access the Network in one or the other way. "works fine but slow" can also mean severe problems, e.g. lotsa packet retransmissions due to multiple errors on the net that make other apps crash early. I would: - try to check the network connection. Anything in the log? - test some more network related apps. Do they also crash or behave in some way "strange"? - check whether you have the same NIC in your home and office machine? Aside from that, KDE 3.2.2 under 9.0 seems no lucky combination to me. You read a lot of troubles here from people who did that. I'm thinking of jumping to 9.1 directly, in the hope of less troubles. But yeah, doesn't help you of course. Cheerz Peter
