probably because there's only one virt. desktop configured. don't understand why that's the default now. virtual desktops is one of the advantages over standard windows installations that's immediately obvious to new users. if not four, at least two virt. desktops should be there, IMO.
3) The "cashew" is even more annoying and obtrusive than usual. 4) There's an "Activities widget" in the panel by default, which will surely lead to lots of confusion and crashy plasma, while bringing almost zero benefit.
