Note that I got the same error with amarok 2.2.1

You've got the latest correct release of amarok, and as you say you had the same problem with 2.2.1 ... so maybe the problem isn't amarok? Check the versions of your dbus bindings etc. Clean out your /var/tmp/kdecache. Try under a new user.
