Hi Phil! Please reply to list. You surely agree, that the solution could be interesting for more people beside you, don't you? I think when you use the graphical link from your kde menue, then kde tries to start yast2 as a kcontrol module (like "kdesu kcmshell YaST/Misc/yast2" on my 7.3). With KDE 3.1 some things have changed here and I think that's not possible anymore. Please check on your system and change the properties of the link to execute "kdesu yast2". This should fix things. Yast2 starts from a konsole, but interestingly qt was not installed - so I installed it as per your link. Still the same problem though.
I can run Yast2 in a konsole but not in KDE as a graphical program. When I try I do get a PID for it but nothing appears on the screen!!
