Mel, Try changing back to kdm to log in to your desktop using YaST. Open "Editor for etc/sysconfig Files" in the System section. Choose Desktop -> Display manager -> DISPLAYMANAGER in the tree menu. Change DISPLAYMANAGER from gdm to kdm, then click finish. After you are done with YaST, reboot. You should be able to log into either XD2 or KDE from kdm (I think).
