Hi Joel, Thank you for the answer, but maybe I was not very clean in my ask: I can manually mount and read/write to the floppy (umount, too) but my GUI doesn't mount it for me! How to explain KDE to do it for me when I open the floppy from the icon I have on my GUI? Stefano Joel Webb ha scritto:
Yes you can but you will have to do a couple things.
mount /dev/fd0 /media/floppy cd /media/floppy
When you are in the GUI mode, it automatically does these commands for you so you don't have to mount the media.

Hi all, running SuSE 9.3 I can access to floppy disk (/media/floppy) from a terminal but not from GUI (KDE 3.4.0 level "b"). As I click on the floppy disk icon a message box appear: "The process for the protocol media is unespectly dead" or something like this (I've an italian installation) and the system isn't able to mount the floppy. If I access the /media/floppy with the konqueror browser all work fine, too. Any ideas? Stefano
