Hello, when I set new sending account in KMail, I can choose between (local) SMTP server and Sendmail. In some sites I have problems with SMTP (silly firewall and not very well configured mail servers...), so I would like to set sending of e-mails from my laptop's KMail using some MTA. I did not do any extra settings for Sendmail. When I set sending using Sendmail in KMail, the mail is sent without any error but usually not delivered... Any idea how to get it to work?
Using "sendmail" in current openSUSE means using postfix, and for this to work you have to configure postfix first. It will attempt to send by default, but fail, because other servers will probably consider you an spammer. Have a look at the log file to see why (/var/log/mail). You can use postfix if you teach it to use your sending account with your ISP. Typically you define an smtp (remote) server in kmail and authenticate with it. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
