Hello, Question: would upgrading to 42.3 cover all the updates and allow to play video ? No flashplayer installed at all. using 64 bit opensuse. following just a '--dry run' no updates done.
Thanks --Glenn
I do not know what version you are using right now. If you are running 13.2 or 42.1, these are out of support and do not receive security updates any more. 42.2 will still have a, albeit limited, lifespan. So I would advice anyway the use of 42.3. In opensuse the use of some codecs is more complicated, this is not a technical but a legal issue (thanks to US legislation and somewhat "creative" use of IP problematic. Thus in order to give a US compliant product you have the default install (which should, BTW, be able to handle youtube videos without problems. If you want to have full support and want to install full "uncrippled" multimedia packages, you should join the packman repo and then go to the following page to trigger a one click install: http://opensuse-guide.org/codecs.php On this page you will find also some explanation on why this is so. Hope that helps. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
