This is a dependency issue which should have been resolved during packaging. The KDE folks are right, this is not something they can do something about. Generally speaking, if you have a RPM package dependency issue the packager (in this case, SuSE) is to blame, rather than the project. The packager should make sure that all dependencies are resolved, either by only using the packages used by the version the package is build for, or by providing *all* needed updated packages with the update.
