That's a problem caused by Qt 4.6. I have it with KDE 4.3. A normal 'kwin --replace' does only work for me, when I had another window manager used before. (eg. 'metacity --replace' first end then 'kwin --replace')
I don't think thats necessary, and it is not a Qt 4.6 issue.the problem is that kwin is started before kded, however, kded is needed to register the alt- tab keyboard shortcut. this needs a fix upstream.
