Having just done 'zypper ref; zypper up' on a TW installation (with no optional DE/WM repos enabled) I wanted to run through "Configure Desktop" (systemsettings5). It opens a shadow of a window complete with decorations, but a popup complains it "was unable to find any views, and hence has nothing to display", and on dismissing the popup the window closes. What is it that is supposed to provide "views"? When both "Configure Desktop" and "Configure KDE4 Applications" are in the (classic) start menu, is only the latter supposed to work or be used? The latter doesn't seem to have any way to turn off (compositing) effects except by disabling each effect separately. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
