We badly need better artwork for the next release, the light green and grey reminds me windows 95. The 13.2 is one of the worst release under this point of view. If you check the last meeting log, you'll see that we won't default to openSUSE theme for the next release (in fact, we'll change back to Breeze pretty soon)
Ugh, had to read the transcript to see why... I think it may be little hurtful for openSUSE to switch to upstream theme. To go in more details, I'm trying lots of distros every year, just out of curiosity. And when you switch to openSUSE at first you do not notice that, but switching from openSUSE to anything else you have this nagging feeling that distribution is not finished. Plymouth boot, login screen, splash screen and default wallpaper are out of sync, which gives the feeling that someone hasn't finished their job. Subconciously, that is very strong point of openSUSE. So, in attempt to move it from talks to actions, what problems do you see with openSUSE branding? What has to be done to make it work properly/better? I see following ways to make it work fine: 1. Make consistent default theme, as it was in 13.1 and 13.2. We can see already that default bright-green theme is quite subjective, but it appears to me that pretty much everyone loved the green gecko on black field theme. Or maybe it's just me :) so I even ported those themes to 13.2 [1]. At the moment it does not have sddm theme because I'm using autologin, but simple change of background should not be too hard. 2. Create some script that will set the background for all the plymouth, sddm, splash and default wallpaper. Out of the top of my head, some kind of symlink that is replaced by the script, plus regeneration of plymouth screen. Current plymouth theme is very flexible, having only fade-in effect, it can be applied to pretty much every wallpaper. Probably that will require some experimenting with the colour themes, some of them may appear too bright and some of them too dark, so maybe scripts should also include some image analyzer and switch to appropriate variant of colour theme. This should also work fine with 9.x style wallpapers, some artful photos of green nature. And of course will be interested in any other suggestions, and I can offer my humble help. I do not have any design skills, but I'm easily annoyed by inconsistencies in themes and colour schemes, so usually I'm ending up with some kind of fix.
