Currently the KDE-oriented telepathy packages are building in KDE:Unstable:Playground, but the other telepathy packages they depend on are not. The KDE telepathy packages are starting to depend on changes found in more recent versions of the upstream packages than those offered in openSUSE 12.1. Would it be possible to link the non-KDE telepathy packages that the KDE ones depend on for openSUSE 12.1?
For a specific example, the new msn xmpp backend for telepathy, which is enabled in the current KDE telepathy packages, required telepathy-gabble >= 0.15, while openSUSE 12.1 offers 0.13.7.
As this package may be used by both KDE and Gnome, I believe it's a bad idea to have a local copy. Linking this package would also require linking telepathy-glib >= 0.17.2 which requires more recent vala and gobject- introspection packages and so on... If a critical update is needed by both desktops, the :update repo is a wiser choice.
Also, are there any plans to move the KDE telepathy packages to KDF, or should that wait until they are more mature?
I think we should wait. telepathy-qt4-yell and telepathy-logger-qt4 still don't build out of the box. That gives a small idea of the current maturity of the whole telepathy-kde|qt stack. Christophe
