Howzit Chris? I've been having these problems since I upgraded to 9.1 or 9.2, I can't remember which but I am still experiencing them using 9.3. What I do know is that previously it was detected as a Synaptics touchpad (or I installed that driver with SaX2) but it worked very well, including double tapping and no arbitrary changing of focus. Unfortunately changing the default driver to the Synaptics driver no longer resolves the problem. Currently the touchpad is like a hypersensitive mouse on steroids. It would be great if SuSE could unbreak this as I think it is head and shoulders above the rest of the distros. BTW my configuration: Sony VAIO VGN-A140B SuSE 9.3 Pro XOrg 6.8 KDE 3.4.2 If there's anything I can do to help resolve this please give me a shout. Cheers Bruce PS One other problem that needs fixing is the missing icons for non-KDE apps when you upgrade KDE to 3.4.2. I sent that information to them. As soon as I hear back with a solution I will post it here for everyone's benefit. Chris Shanahan On Sunday 14 November 2004 12:16, cms wrote:
Hello all,
Just received my copy of SuSE 9.2 Pro and completed a clean install on my Toshiba Satellite 2435 laptop. For whatever reason, the laptop's touchpad was not detected/installed correctly. Using the laptop has become extremely difficult. The mouse opens *almost* every window and app that it trails over and hardware clicking/tapping doesn't work. I don't recall what driver I've used in the past with SuSE and this laptop--truth is, I never looked. Currently I'm using the generic PS/2 Mouse (Aux-Port) driver as indicated in the Hardware section of YaST's Control Center and the touchpad is somewhat functional, albeit with irritating side effects. With previous versions of SuSE the touchpad was detected/configured correctly and without my intervention. Anyone using SuSE 9.2 with a similar machine?
Searches on SuSE's Support Portal turned up zero articles related to ALPS Touchpad devices.
This is a snippet of dmesg, related to the mouse/touchpad:

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
