Under SuSE 8.2 neither xine nor mplayer runs DVDs smoothly.
This is clearly a kernel problem. Under the old kernel (2.4.19) everything was fine. Unfortunately SuSE 8.2 can't build the old kernel with gcc 3.3 (pre-release).
Was anybody able t watch movies under SuSE 8.2?
Yessir, I've watched my first DVD movies *ever* on my computer with SuSE 8.2 and Xine, but I didn't use the Xine that comes on the 8.2 CD's, I downloaded all the necessazry rpm's from http://packman.links2linux.de/index.php4 andinstalled those and it worked like a charm. I'm lovin' the heck out of 8.2!!
It's a DMA problem. Check the setings on your DVD ROM... especially if it's an IDE pretending to be SCSI. I had the same problem under 8.0... -- ___ _ __ Public Key @ www.eon.demon.co.uk/keane.asc / __| ___ __ _ _ _ | |/ /___ __ _ _ _ ___ \__ \/ -_) _` | ' \ | ' </ -_) _` | ' \/ -_) |___/\___\__,_|_||_| |_|\_\___\__,_|_||_\___|
