Hello! Why does kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar from KDE 4.8 require akonadi-runtime? It works fine without it.
AFAIK it is required for displaying events (entered into KOrganizer,...).
KOrganizer requres akonadi. So if i had had KOrganizer installed and if I had had some events there, there would have been events in plasma. So may be it should be recommendation, not strict requirement.
From my view as "User" kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar should not "require" akonadi-runtime, maybe "recommend", but actually not even that, as it is impossible to use "events" without KOrganizer.
KOrganizer needs to "require" akonadi-runtime, as it can not run / start without. To keep "require" or even "recommend" akonadi-runtime in kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar gives false hope and is just wrong. Esp. in the view of that mess akonadi / soprano / sql-backend is (and not just atm, see past releases, and remember Kmail2 anyone?) So to to make it easier to avoid the whole akonadi hassle removing the "require" is a must, not adding a "recommend" is a should. User-view is simple: no akonadi -> stable and lean KDE! Sorry for all those involved in akonadi, but thats my take on this issue. -- Yamaban.
