I tried to upgrade from 11.0 to 11.4, failed, and reinstalled 11.0. I had a second hard drive at /home/bob/storage. After I reinstalled KDE didn't see it. Gwenview did see it until I pointed it to a directory in the primary drive. After that, it didn't see it.

/home/bob/storage is below /home which is ext3 according to above. /home/storage is reiserfs Both should not matter if you can see files on it or not - except you told the installation procedure to reformat it and therefore remove all data on it.
Is the problem that sdb1 is reiserfs?
Don't think so.
How can I change that?
you can not change a filesystem type except when reformatting the whole partition, which means: losing data.
Or can I reinstall 11.0 in such a way that it will see the files on sdb1?
sdb1 is there. You showed it above. When there is no data on it, then you probably removed it. What do you see when you do ls -l /home/storage (your reiserfs on /dev/sdb1) or ls -l /home/bob ?
More info: I can see /home/bob/storage and can put files there, but can't see the directories that I had there.
Please help. I had a lot of data there.
What further info can I give you?
Did you backup your data before you upgraded or reinstalled your OS ? -- Best regards/Schöne Grüße Martin A: Because it breaks the logical sequence of discussion Q: Why is top posting bad?
