I've been sent an attachment called winmail.dat, which I believe is a proprietary format used only by Microsoft Outlook.
A google search suggests that an application called ktnef can read these, but I can't find a KDE4 version of this.
Does it still exist, and if so, where could I find it? Webpin found libktnef but not the application itself.

Many thanks for this. Unfortunately, it still gives me unreadable output. I shall have to ask for the original file in text or cvs format.
You should ask for non html mails from the sender, but note, that this setting is overridable per receiver in outlook, hence it may took an eloquent win admin to get rid of this mess..
