I found a bug but dunno what the ideal fix would be. /usr/bin/startkde starts krandrtray (by issueing ". krandrtray") but that's no longer installed by default in Plasma 4.11 so the user can't log in. Should this starting-of- krandtray be made conditional on it being there? Seems to make sense, yes?
Or should it be a dependency? It should not, with Kscreen, correct?
From where did you install KDE ? Kscreen is now a requirement for kdebase4- workspace and KScreen has everything in it so that startkde will function normally.
And it is not the krandrtray that is being executed from startkde, but krandrstartup. That was a script that initialized the Xrandr setup. An easy workaround is to create just an empty shell-script (/usr/bin/krandrstartup) and to give it 0755 permissions.
