TW kconfig Screensaver - OpenGL screen savers broken, Preview shown out of dialog??
Yasuhiko, Checking in kconfig screensavers, all of the OpenGL screen savers are broken and no longer work. For all of the other screensavers, the Preview that should be shown at the right side of the dialog are now shown up under the titlebar somewhere. You can see a few pixels of the preview under the titlebar on the right site. No telling what is the cause. If you have time, can you confirm this behavior? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
Hi, This problem does not seem to occur in my environment(s). I think that this problem might be caused by graphics driver or by hardware itself. Thanks, On Sun, 1 Sep 2024 11:08:56 -0500 "David C. Rankin" <drankinatty@gmail.com> wrote:

Thank you Yasuhiko, It may be Nvidia related. Thank you for taking a look! -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

I got to the bottom of this and added the info to the bug report (old) https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1195139 The problem is a Mesa/libEGL problem that for Nvidia has been patched in the 470 driver (G05 forward). The Nvidia 390 driver (G04) is still impacted by the issue. More details: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/390-143-eglcreateplatformwindowsurface... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

I'm not sure it is driver related, may be, but the screensavers produce core-dumps, e.g.: $ coredumctl list <snip> Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:08 CDT 104206 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/hypertorus > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:16 CDT 104232 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:18 CDT 104249 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/hypertorus > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:22 CDT 104268 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/hypertorus > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:31 CDT 104292 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/hypertorus > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:33 CDT 104306 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:48 CDT 104350 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:49 CDT 104366 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:50 CDT 104376 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:51 CDT 104390 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:53 CDT 104403 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:54 CDT 104413 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:03:55 CDT 104426 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:03 CDT 104452 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:07 CDT 104470 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/antmaze > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:11 CDT 104486 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /opt/kde3/bin/kwave.kss > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:15 CDT 104505 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /opt/kde3/bin/kwave.kss > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:19 CDT 104523 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /opt/kde3/bin/kwave.kss > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:22 CDT 104538 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/hypertorus > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:24 CDT 104555 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/blinkbox > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:26 CDT 104569 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/bouncingcow > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:30 CDT 104586 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/cage > Sun 2024-09-01 11:04:33 CDT 104603 1000 1060 SIGABRT present /usr/libexec/xscreensaver/cubenetic > May be driver or related to something else, but I thought I would add this info to the description. -- David C.
