[opensuse-kde3] Knetworkmanager wireless problems
Hi all, while I more or less gave up with kmail, another problem is seriously annoying me (opensuse 12.1 x64): KNetworkmanager doesn't work with wireless LAN. Everything is fine with cable connections. I can also see the wireless networks available, but as soon as I choose one to connect with, simply nothing happens (no "trying to connect" symbol etc.) Any ideas? How can I trace where the problem is? Cheers Carolin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

Same problem here! That's the last reason why I have to use kde4 on my notebook until now. Using kde3-hal-enabled has not solved this issue. (But the repeating hangs of several seconds of the kde4 desktop are very annoying... ) S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

I use on 11.2 with kde3 NetworkManager-gnome-0.7.1-5.5.1.i586 http://projects.gnome.org/NetworkManager/ Especially for editing wlan conections, I use nm-connection-editor as root, works fine. Perhaps that works with 12.1, too. -- Herzliche Grüße! Rolf Muth Meine Adressen duerfen nicht fuer Werbung verwendet werden! In 11.2 through 11.4 kde3-networkmanager works fine. Except for memory leakage. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

High Ilya, I have read about a patch you have done for adapting knetworkmanager to nm 0.9. Is there a rpm-package available for testing? S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

The patch is already applied. Otherwise it does not build at all. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

So this version does not work with wlan... I have tried Networkmanager-gnome. This works fine, but the applet does not store the passphrase. So I have to enter it allways. Is there a possibility to store the passphrase? E.g. in kwallet? S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
It can be stored if you call nm-applet as a root. In this case it is possible to edit connections in "/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections". (In the gnome2 version of the nm-applet it worked with saving as "system wide", but now it seems to be depreciated.) On 06.04.2012 23:33, update wrote:

I suggest you to set up the wireless network through Yast. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

Yast works fine, if I only use one wireless (at home), but I want to have them all automatically with passphrase, even when I am not at home. That only works on my laptop (11.2, kde3 and kde4) with knetworkmanager for one user or nm for all users -- Herzliche Grüße! Rolf Muth Meine Adressen duerfen nicht fuer Werbung verwendet werden!
