[opensuse-kde3] Can I install KDE3.5 in KDE4?

Recently, I lost my OpenSuse KDE 11.2 install when a hard drive failed very prematurely. I decided to try OpenSuse 11.4 and see if KDEPIM had been fixed yet. It isn't. I think it's basically unusable in the state that it's currently in. Do I need to install KDE 3.5 to install KDE PIM 3.5.10? I'd rather install it in the new version of KDE 4 that come with OpenSuse 11.4. Can I just find an opensuse kede3 repo and install the old version of KDEPIM? I actually quite like KDE4, but not the crap version of KDEPIM that comes with it. -- Robert Smits Email bob@rsmits.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

I think it should work, try it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to. I have an HP laptop, with OpenSuSe 11.4 KDE4 64 bit installed, and then I installed all the KDEPIM3 programs with YAST from the download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.4/ There doesn't appear to be anything in the .kde directory - in fact there is no .kde directory , although there is a .kde4 directory in my home directory. Neither can I find any trace in the menu. Any suggestions anyone? -- Robert Smits Email bob@rsmits.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

The kdepim3 package includes the menu entries. Did you try to start the programs from console (i.e. kmail, kontact)? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

Are there binaries in /opt/kde3/bin directory? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org
