[opensuse-kde3] Updates remove "Embedded Advances Text Editor" - "Preview In" option - Reason found.
All, If you have updated kde3 with packages with build 216.1 for kdelib3, you will notice in konqueror filemanagement that "Preview In" no longer has the option to view text files in the normal "Embedded Advanced Text Editor" I submitted bug: http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1172692 The problem is somebody mixed TDE and openSUSE KDE3 code resulting in /opt/kde3/share/services/katepart.desktop containing code for X-TDE instead of X-KDE..... Hopefully this will be fixed shortly. You can just copy an old katepart.desktop and rebuild the cache kbuildsycoca --noincremental and then log out/in and it will be restored. -- David C. Gah! I finally figured out where I get those links with the suse.com address. They are from the e-mails sent out from bugzilla, e.g. From: bugzilla_noreply@suse.com Subject: [Bug 1172692] KDE3 kdelibs3 build 216.1 Breaks (deletes) Embedded Advanced Text Editor(katepart) Alynx Zhou changed *bug 1172692* To post the link, I just right-click on the "bug 1172692" link and it is: http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1172692 I'll remember to manually change to opensuse next time. -- David C. I think it was yourself who put this katepart.desktop into tdelibs-kate-data.git-dc699b4fd407.tar when suggesting kate syntax fixes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David C. The problem is somebody mixed TDE and openSUSE KDE3 code resulting in
/opt/kde3/share/services/katepart.desktop
containing code for X-TDE instead of X-KDE.....
Hopefully this will be fixed shortly. You can just copy an old katepart.desktop and rebuild the cache
kbuildsycoca --noincremental
and then log out/in and it will be restored.

Oh no no no..... All I attached to the bug were 3-screenshots. I have no commit authority to wherever the KDE3 build tree is. (though I would like to find it so I could avoid downloading and extracting all the .src.rpms) I advised that TDE had the updated .xml files and they should be considered upstream for the syntax-highlight files, but that's it. Whoever made the commit grabbed more than the .xml files and really messed the Embedded Advanced Text Editor up -- fixed the syntax files, but the X-TDE service borked the preview :) So we need to keep the .xml files and get rid of whatever else got pulled into that commit -- sooooon. konqueror with no Embedded Advanced Text Editor preview is a pretty broken thing on all releases right now... -- David C. Whoop! Bug http://bugzilla.opensuse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1172692 is fixed. X-TDE is now properly back to X-KDE :) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
