[opensuse-kde3] system tray (systray) icons in two lines
Hello: I have installed openSUSE 12.1 64 bit with the latest KDE3 packages from KDE3 repo. For my pleasant surprise sftp works again. Thank for that, whoever made it. I also found that in the system tray the icons now are organized in two rows, which I don't like. They became two small to fit the height of the panel and also it is more difficult to distinguish and click them. Is it possible to set the system tray to show the icons only in one row? I don't like it too. Unfortunately, Ilya makes changes in system packages without asking users' opinions. -- WBR Kyrill -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

Just got used to it. I think, it will be fine to have the choice what kind of organization the user will prefer. At the beginning I disliked this; now it is convenient, because I used the place of kicker for other things. I do not want to get used to it. Its functionality is inferior to the previous setup. It is less visible, harder to point the mouse to, and there are icons that even do not fit and are clipped (eg kamix). This is a typical example of fixing something that is not broken. Which is the latest version of KDE3 that doesn't have this feature? And where is it available? You are right.

:) Yes.
Which is the latest version of KDE3 that doesn't have this feature?
Sorry, I don't know. About half a year or longer.
And where is it available?
I guess You don't get it. I had problems with kmail a while and the versions before the broken version were deleted and not longer available. In case of openSUSE 12.1 install kdebase3 and kdelibs3 packages from openSUSE:12.1:Update repo. But sftp doesn't work. For more advanced use: rebuild kdebase3 disabling patches 273, 274, 275 and kdelibs3 disabling patch 222. -- WBR Kyrill -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Kyrill: Thank you for your suggestion. I have rebuilt kdebase3 and kdelibs3 according to it. It works nicely. Just for curiosity, which are those packages from the many that are necessary for the bigger one line icon view? I have these packages built: from kdebase3.src: fileshareset-2.0-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-apps-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-devel-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-extra-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-kdm-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-ksysguardd-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-nsplugin-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-runtime-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-samba-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-session-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm kdebase3-workspace-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm misc-console-font-3.5.10.1-327.2.x86_64.rpm from kdelibs3.src: kdelibs3-3.5.10-214.1.x86_64.rpm kdelibs3-arts-3.5.10-214.1.x86_64.rpm kdelibs3-default-style-3.5.10-214.1.x86_64.rpm kdelibs3-devel-3.5.10-214.1.x86_64.rpm kdelibs3-doc-3.5.10-214.1.x86_64.rpm I have installed all of them but curious which ones are really needed for showing system tray icons in the old style. I think, kdebase3-workspace and kdelibs3. I'm sure, you don't need -devel packages. -- WBR Kyrill -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
