Ilya, I'm trying to track down slow start of kwrite/kate compared to 11.4. Whenever I launch kwrite, I get the following sequence in the .xsession-errors file: failed to find gam_server Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam-david- libpng warning: Interlace handling should be turned on when using png_read_image libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 20 Minor opcode: 0 Resource id: 0x48001b2 X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 20 Minor opcode: 0 Resource id: 0x48001b2 I know what the libpng issue is and I've got a utility to patch the pngs, but the real problem appears to be the: failed to find gam_server Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam-david- What is 'gam_server' and why is kwrite/kate trying to connect to it? It must have a (1-2) sec timeout, because that is about the delay I see on kwrite start. Any ideas? -- David C.
