[opensuse-kde3] does kolourpaint crash for everyone on 13.1?
Crash occurs on startup attempt whether from menu or as Gwenview plugin. :-( Do I need to file a bug? BZ search turns up nothing. # rpm -qa | grep kdeg kdegraphics3-3.5.10-171.4.i586 kdegraphics3-extra-3.5.10-171.4.i586 kdegraphics3-imaging-3.5.10-171.4.i586 kdegraphics3-pdf-3.5.10-171.4.i586 kdegraphics3-scan-3.5.10-171.4.i586 KolourPaint Crash Handler Backtrace System configuration startup check disabled. Hi Felix ! Yes, it crash even on 13.2 with KDE3 :( Workaround (sort of) : /opt/kde3/bin/kolourpaint : crash kolourpaint: fcmatch.c:697: IA__FcFontMatch: Assertion `result != ((void *)0)' failed. KCrash: Application 'kolourpaint' crashing... BUT : /usr/bin/kolourpaint : works but this is KDE4 version... There were problems with fonts prevuously as well. Have you tried to change the fonts in KDE3 settings? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

IIRC, that's the same message I got before starting the thread.

Change them how? Has the generic selection Sans Serif become impermissible? Is size 10 impermissible? I produced the problem on two different machines before starting the thread. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I don't know but people reported the same problems and fixed them with messing with fonts. Check also that Liberation fonts are installed. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

So you get no kolourpaint crash on yours? And you have liberation, not liberation2 fonts installed? All my installations have liberation2 fonts installed by YaST at initial OS installation time, which prevents installation of liberation fonts. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Liberation2 does not bytecode interpreter information for hinting. It is just broken font. That's why Liberation was kept in openSUSE. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

I did zypper -v in liberation-fonts, which removed liberation2-fonts. $ fc-match "liberation sans" LiberationSans-Regular.ttf: "Liberation Sans" "Regular" $ fc-match "liberation serif" LiberationSerif-Regular.ttf: "Liberation Serif" "Regular" $ fc-match "liberation mono" LiberationMono-Regular.ttf: "Liberation Mono" "Regular" Kolourpaint still crashes. What other kind of "messing with fonts" is suggested? Is there a way to tell what font(s) Kolourpaint seems to depend on? On another PC, with 13.2 and Trinity r14.0.1, Kolourpaint does not crash simply trying to open it either directly or as Gwenview plugin, regardless whether liberation or liberation2 fonts are installed. And on it, fc-match sans produces 'DroidSans.ttf: "Droid Sans" "Regular"', same as on my crashing KDE3 Kolourpaint machines. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I just tried to try Digikam, but it's fighting back hard: #1 I can't find a way to configure all caption text to be legible, meaning at least as large as UI text. To get the filename size to where this screenshot shows required about a dozen zoom-up levels, which changes the thumbnail size, not what I wanted: http://fm.no-ip.com/SS/Tmp/digikam3picker012.jpg #2 I can't find a way to escape the /home filesystem tree - there's no visible up icon like in Konq, and no file open menu item allowing to navigate to wherever an image happens to be, e.g on network. I tried setting the startup location to /, and it crashes instead of opening, with what looks like a write permission failure. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
